THINK LONG AND HARD

WHAT IS THE SEARCH TERM YOU WOULD USE TO FIND A PLACE TO RENT ON YOUR NEXT VACATION? WOULD YOU TYPE “TOURIST RENTALS”? HOW ABOUT “SHORT TERM RENTALS”? WOULD YOU TYPE SOME EXOTIC ABBREVIATION LIKE “ECBO” (EVERGREEN CABINS BY OWNER)? Of course not – you would type the terms that make sense.

Human beings search the way they speak and think. They search for COMMON phrases. Phrases like “Homes for rent….” or “Beachfront property….” or even “Condos on the lake…” All of these are good phrases.

But the absolute winner BY A LANDSLIDE is….

V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N

R-E-N-T-A-L-S

It is not even close… The chart to the right was captured from SEMRush.com on the 22nd of March, 2018. The exact search match was estimated at 165,000 for the past month. The number of “loose” searches was approximately 127,000,000. (That is MILLION and not a mistake)

These included terms like “Panama City Vacation Rentals” or “Vacation Rentals in Branson, MO”

What do you think your customers are searching for?

clearly – they are typing the same kind of search queries as you would.  think of it like this. You just arrive in a new city for your vacation and your wife wants to pick up some groceries, does she ask you to search for “places that sell food” ? or “edible items retailer” ? no, more than likely she asked you to search for a grocery store. it is a generic coverall name, just like bowling alley, barber shop, movie theater, etc. yes, some places use the search term “supermarket” or “grocer” and all of them are great terms, same as vacation rentals. with us so far?

Just The Facts

Search engines only care about PRODUCT and LOCATION

going back to the example above consider what you would do if you searched for a “mexican restaurant in prescott, az” and every result was for italian restaurants in kingman, az. how long would it take for you to stop using that search engine and leave for another? same holds true for every site. search engines only make $$ when they return relevant results. we stack the deck even more in our favor by giving the search engines exactly what they are looking for – product (vacation rentals) and location (city-state) eventually as we grow in inventory, we are going to explode in searches and inquiries. a growth in inquiries will lead to increased business for you and your vacation rental properties.

Hello From VacaRent To The Readers Of Morgan Linton

This is an actual screen grab from SEO Power Suite taken last week. Even though we have not spent 1 single penny marketing the site (yet) we continue to monitor the website traffic while we build the site. This is actual and unretouched, presented to separate facts from fiction.

don’t sell yourself on what you know to be wrong

Regional sites are a waste of time

Lately there has been a push to “regionalize” websites in the hope they can generate enthusiasm with the national level directories. Yes – occassionally they will see 1 or 2 bookings come through. By and large though, it is the national directories that will win out in the end because they offer the one stop solution for consumers and make it easy for them to navigate quickly to what they want. Here’s the irony of it though. These regional sites charge virtually the same amount for membership that we do and offer virtually nothing in return and that’s not right.

We are truly the ONLY viable alternative.

give us a chance to show you how committed we are to your success. we have invested over half million dollars just to buy the url. that alone should demonstrate our level of committment to this website. we are investing tens of thousands more in the marketing – optimization – servers – development. it is imperative to us that we all win in this venture and we firmly believe we will
